Welcome to the registration site for Seattle University's Family Weekend 2019!

Please note: Family Weekend registration is open until 10/24 at 6:00 p.m. but all events requiring a meal ticket are now closed. Please feel free to attend other events.

Check out our itinerary and details below, and be sure to contact us at parents@seattleu.edu with any questions! The registration deadline is October 17. Pick and choose the events that work for you and your student. We want the weekend to be a chance for you to re-connect, learn more about campus and the city and have fun! Please note: Pre-registration is required. There is no on-site registration.

NOTE: You MUST pay the General Registration fee (per family, not per person) if you will be attending ANY events in Family Weekend. Some ticketed events sell out so please register soon.

The only exception is for Choir Concert tickets ONLY. If you will be attending a Choir Concert only, you may reserve your free tickets here and you will not need to pay the General Registration fee.

All breakfast, brunch and dinner tickets are per person. Please be sure to include a ticket for your student with your purchase!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25

2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Check-in (Student Center Hearth)
Pick up your Family Weekend Packet that includes a campus map and other informative handouts. (Pre-registration required)

2:30 p.m. Clinical Nursing Lab Tour (departs from Student Center Hearth) SU’s Nursing Clinical Performance Lab (CPL) is highly utilized and a site of innovative teaching and learning. Located at Swedish Cherry Hill Medical Center, the CPL is a state-of-the-art, 20,000 square foot facility housing nursing simulation suites, skills laboratory areas, teaching spaces and a research commons. Join us to tour the space and learn about nursing education at SU.

3:00 p.m. Garden Tour (departs from Student Center Hearth)
Enjoy Seattle U’s incredible grounds. Meet at the Student Center before going on a tour of the campus gardens led by the staff members who so diligently care for them.

3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. STEM Research and Poster Session (Bannan Science Building Atrium) Meet outstanding student researchers and faculty mentors who are investigating contemporary issues in science, engineering, computer science and mathematics.

Dinner on Your Own
Our neighborhood is full of great places to dine. Feel free to check out one of the local restaurants suggested in our dining handout.

6:00 p.m. Legacy Family Pinning Ceremony (Campion Ballroom)
Are you a member of a multi-generation Seattle U family? Join us as we honor our Seattle University legacy families with a pinning ceremony and reception. This event is open to all current Seattle U students who had family members graduate from Seattle U and also all alumni who have had multiple family members attend Seattle University. Legacy alumni will celebrate their family legacy by pinning their students with a Seattle U legacy pin. (Doors open at 6:00, event begins at 6:30.)

7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Choir Concert (Chapel of St. Ignatius)
Join us for the first performance of the 2019-2020 Seattle University Choirs, and get a sneak peek into some of the concert repertoire we're preparing for the coming year! SU Choirs maintain an active performance schedule on campus and off, including performances at major University events, charitable fundraiser performances, and twice-yearly concerts at Seattle's beautiful Jesuit parish, St. Joseph's. Admission for this concert is free, but tickets/reservations are required. Seat reservations are held until 10 minutes before the performance, at which time seating becomes first come, first served. A freewill offering will be taken, with all proceeds benefiting the SU Choral Program. Students interested in singing at SU can contact Dr. Leann Conley-Holcom, Director of Choral & Vocal Activities, at conleyholcol@seattleu.edu.

7:00 p.m. D1 Improv Show (Pigott Auditorium)
Enjoy an evening of comedy with our own Seattle U improv group. Our creative students will make you laugh!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26

8:30 am - 9:30 a.m./10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Check-in (Campion Lobby)

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast and Family Weekend Keynote (Campion Ballroom)
*Presented by the Parent & Family Leadership Council* Join other students and families for a light breakfast and address from our Vice President for Student Development, Dr. Alvin Sturdivant. He and student leaders will share insights into how to get the most out of "The SU Student Experience." $7 each. Tickets required.

10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Family check-in with the VP for Student Development (Family members only) (Student Center 160) Join Dr. Alvin Sturdivant, Vice President for Student Development, for a conversation about the year ahead and how families can support students in taking part in the full Redhawk Experience.

1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. "The Changing World of Work" (Student Center 160) What does the future of work look like with the convergence of education, innovation and career? In a tech-dominated world, the most needed degrees might surprise you. Come hear from our experts in the Career Engagement Office.

3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Hall Council’s Family Activity (Student Center 130))
Come enjoy fun family festivities put on by your student's own Hall Council. Activities will be provided for you and your student to make sure that your student has a little something to remind them of home while they are here at SU.

6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Family Weekend Dinner Show (Campion Ballroom)
A Family Weekend favorite! A welcome from our university president, Fr. Stephen Sundborg, S.J., begins an evening of fun and entertainment. Enjoy a performance by 20/20 A cappella, award-winnng Seattle a capella sensations!
$20 each. Tickets required.

6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. KXSU Student Showcase (Student Center 160) Experience some of the great student talent that is on the SU campus! See student musicians, artists, and performers take the stage and the microphone to entertain you, hosted by Seattle University’s Student-Run Radio Station 102.1 FM KXSU!

7:00 p.m. Women's Soccer vs University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (Championship Field) Show your Redhawk spirit! Free special Family Weekend tickets available for downloading or printing here:https://goseattl.eu/2HgYYfr

9:00 p.m. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Pigott Auditorium) This is a cult classic movie from the 70s, accompanied with our own all-student shadow-cast and narrator. We welcome all and encourage you to come dressed in costumes for an out of this world experience! We will have props available for purchase, but feel free to bring your own. ($5 tickets)


SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27

9:00 a.m. Family Mass (Chapel of St. Ignatius)
Families are invited to attend this Sunday Mass with the Seattle University Community. All denominations are welcome.

10:15 a.m. — 11:30 a.m. Brunch with the Jesuits (Campion Ballroom)
Join the university’s Jesuit community for a brunch to celebrate the families, students, and community that make Seattle U special.
$15 each. Tickets required.

Family Weekend parking is free with a special Family Weekend permit in any campus parking lot. A link to print the parking permit will be sent in a confirmation email about a week before the program.

Meet the students behind Seattle University’s 16-hour Dance Marathon; the largest student led philanthropic effort on campus. The event raises money for Seattle Children’s Uncompensated Care Fund and Strong Against Cancer Initiative. You'll have a chance to learn more about Dance Marathon and how your student can get involved today! Learn more about SU's Dance Marathon here. Your student can get connected with Dance Marathon through ConnectSU and through their social media pages.

The Campus Store is open on Friday until 5:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 to 4:00. Use the coupon in your packet to stock up on SU swag!

Be sure to use your Eisiminger Fitness Center pass to work out for free!
